iPad Finger Drawings and Ink Over Tumblr Random Images
“Common Creatives” is a series of works composed of a group of photos searched on the web, mixed together, finger doodling over them on my iPad (“finger painting”), printed and then painted with ink or a mix of layers, printed and combined. I call these series “Common Creatives” as the movement devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share.
In 2014, people uploaded an average of 1.8 billion digital images every single day. That’s 657 billion photos per year. Another way to think about it is: every two minutes, humans take more photos than ever existed in a total of 150 years. Now every day this is getting bigger and bigger, so is this gonna stop?
In “Common Creatives” series, the idea is to work with billions of images that exist, to create new art work. “Layers” for example are Portraits made of 100 Pinterest Images, using the web as a media tool to create art. My Web Landscape concept encourages us to re-think our mixed medias. Image manipulation software, screen printing, and new technologies are part of our world now, oscillating between physical and digital modes of production.
